Burren College of Art has always had a close relationship with landscape and ecology and, for many years, has worked in particularly close partnerships with Burrenbeo Trust , Burren and Cliffs of Moher Geopark, Burren Ecotourism Network and others.

In 2013, the College hosted the Burren Climate Gathering, (view video) which birthed a series of Climate Conversations in Dublin which in turn enabled ICTU, Ibec, churches, NGOs and the Greens to work in a safe respectful space and featured the memorable line from Tommy Tiernan at its conclusion in the  Abbey Theatre:

“We are nature ….. the thing we are trying to fix is ourselves.”

Also in 2013, the College launched its MFA/MA in Art & Ecology , the first postgraduate course of its kind in Europe. The College holds a strong view that sustainability and regenerativity are developed through the creative coming together of issues and people.
