Healing event cancelled

‘Towards Cultures of Healing & Seeing with New Eyes: Making Trauma Visible’

It is with much regret that a decision has been made to cancel the proposed healing event due to be held next week (23rd-25th October) at Burren College of Art.

We regret that misinterpretation of this gathering has caused unnecessary concern for some and generated unfortunate opposition.  The planned event will not go ahead as we believe its objectives cannot be adequately served at this time.  We also believe that the safe space of the Burren College of Art, which is essential for dialogue and sharing, has been compromised.

We reiterate that the event was designed as a private gathering of invited peacemakers in dialogue, professionally facilitated with the arts and creative methodologies at its core.

Its aims were

  1. to provide a place of respite, reflection and renewal for peacemakers working at the coalface from fields of health, education and the arts and
  1. to seed initiatives to address the collective intergenerational trauma that underlies the recurring cycles of violence in the Middle East and in conflict zones throughout the world.

The format of the event was planned as experiential and participatory, did not involve any speakers or presentations, and was organised without the involvement of any other organisation, state or otherwise.

The ReSource centre remains committed to using the arts and creativity as a bridge to understanding and peacebuilding.
